Market host/sever/starbucks

Market Host- As a market host i worked as a hostess, basically what i did was greet people as they walked in and sat them down, and gave them the menu.

Market Server- I took orders, and made drinks, i learned that custumers can sometimes be so rude, one table told me that they wanted their food done in 18min im like wow, meanwhile they had a party of 6, and others still joining who were late.
I had alot of experience because i work at Mcdonalds, and i know how people are.
Working as server you have to have good balance and move at a well past, and have strong muscles to hold the trays of food.

Starbucks- I worked with Ginny-Jenny, she is the best and most sweetest lady i know i love her. We only had one custumer when i was with her. She told em the only times she gets busy is around 6am-9am when people are leaving or want coffee to wake up. Me and Jenny talked about how the Marriot used to have a gift shop, and how she worked in the Gift Shop. Jenny told me that her feet hurt now because of the hard wood floors. She says since the floors have been down she has been having constent foot probelms and she has to see the doctors.

Hotel

Working in the hotel industry has made me very aware about the future. At first i was like i really don't like the class i want to drop it. But i had to think what was best about me, and set other issues aside and focus on me. So working in the hotel i learned that money isn't always guaranteed like food is. For example someone may not always need a room everyday, so i think its hard to feel up a very big hotel. Due to the issues with the enconmoy many people are cutting back on traveling and staying home or with relatives. Being at the Marriot i have heard employees talking about how they arent getting raises right now, and how everythings being pushed back. I would be mad if i was supposed to get a raise and i didnt. Alot of people look forawrd to their paychecks because they have families to raise.

week 4-6

For the past three weeks at the Marriot i have been working in the banquets area, and food prep ara.
As a banquet cook, or server you have many jobs. I learned that you may be assigned a job, but when you go home you might be doing like 20 other jobs.
When i was in banquets they had me washing off chicken, then going to season the chicken and flour it. After that they had me pre-cook the chicken for tomorrow. What they do is prepare food for the next day so that it will save them time.
Other then that i prepared dessarts trays for parties of like 150 people, i never thought that alot of people would order such things due to the problems in the world.

THE TRIP TO THE CENTURY HOUSE WAS REALLY NICE, SAMUEL PERKINS HE WAS REALLY NICE. HE TALKED ASBOUT HIM AND HOW HE BECAME WHO HE IS. I THOUGHT THAT IT WAS VERY INTRESTING, AND GOOD. YUP, BUT IM MAD THAT WE DIDNT GET TO TOUR THE HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS THAT WAS THE BAD PART. BUT THE CENTURY HOUSE TOUR WAS NICE THEY HAVE SOME NICE ROOMS WITH A HOME TOUCH FEELING, THEY ARE REALLY NICE THOUGH.

week 3

The hotel is really boring. I am getting stuck with a lady that doesnt even like me. It seems to me that iam not even learning anything, and it is really boring. So anyways at the marriot this week i was in the kitchen, seasoning chicken, it was pretty boring. Yup so pretty much the day was boring.

Week 2{Intro to Banquet]

In my third week of my internship. i met with Debbie, the manager of the banquets at the Albany Marriott. She is associated with he food and beverage department, and the sales department. She is in charge of making sure that meetings and banquets run good and make sure that everything is OK. Her short goals are to make everything run smooth and accurate. in the hotel all the employees follow the basic calender. Her main issues are the guests issues. she wants to make sure that everyone is happy and pleased. I think that am a good in the banquet room because i work with fast food at McDonald's and i know a lot about customer needs and their satisfaction of their needs. i hope to learn how to carry trays with one hand because it seemed like it was fun and interesting to learned. i didn't expect to see clean rooms but everything was cleaned and neat. Also they do all the cleaning themselves. The Marriott's banquet GSS is 100%.
